St. Thomas University Professor Ed Rawlinson and 20 of his students visited the Marysville Flats to participate in a tree planting event. The students braved the snow flurries to plant 40 maples trees that will help to mitigate high flood levels, reduce erosion, and provide wildlife habitat.
The following is an email sent by a student to the professor following this outing:
“Hi Ed,
My name is Rachel and I am in your Social Problems course on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.
I just wanted to send you a quick thank you for giving us the opportunity to go out in the community today and do some tree planting. It was a really nice way to spend class and it instantly brought up my mood this week. I’ve really been enjoying the course.”
Thank you to Environment and Natural Resources in Canada for providing the 40 maple trees. Thanks for the project support from Environment and Climate Change Canada, Wildlife Habitat Canada, New Brunswick Wildlife Trust Fund, Lush Cosmetics, and the New Brunswick Environmental Trust Fund, for enabling our work in the watershed.
