To build onto our “Upstream/Downstream” elementary education program, we have developed the “Introduction to Hiking and Habitats at Dunbar Falls” outdoor field trip program for Grade 4 classes. This habitats-focused field trip takes place at the beautiful Dunbar Falls, located near Durham Bridge, New Brunswick. Along the trail, participants learn about local habitats, act as land-use managers for the Nashwaak watershed, and have the opportunity to do an Atlantic salmon habitat assessment at the base of Dunbar Falls.
On September 18th, we launched this program with Grade 3 to 5 students from the Fredericton Christian Academy, which consisted of 50 students, teachers, and parents. All participants were eager to hike the trail and to see the Dunbar Falls with the added benefit of covering topics in the New Brunswick Grade 4 Science Curriculum.
For more information on our “Upstream/Downstream” fall and spring education programming, visit the “Education” section of our website. To book a field trip with us, email info@nashwaakwatershed.ca or call (506) 261-4664.
Thank you to teachers and students at the Fredericton Christian Academy for participating in this new field trip, and we’re looking foward to taking many more classes on the “Introduction to Hiking and Habitats at Dunbar Falls” outing!
