Hello everyone! I would like to introduce myself to the Nashwaak Watershed Association. I am Syeda Aliza Haider, a UNB student based in Fredericton. After being raised in different provinces of Pakistan like Sindh, Punjab and KPK, I moved to New Brunswick two years ago, and I now call it my home. I am a coffee lover, I play street cricket and I am passionate about river conservation.
After concentrating on science subjects during high school and my first year of university, my major focus was to pursue a career in biology but my heart was always with the environment. I realized this when I took an ecology course in my second year. Having spent 5-6 weeks in the Corbett Brook watershed, a stream that runs from the UNB woodlot into the St. John River, working with my fellow students, I became excited about applying my knowledge about biology to a practical environmental project. When I heard about the Nashwaak Watershed Association, I jumped at the chance to work with them. This is my first job in Canada and I am looking forward to lots of learning, meeting people in the watershed and helping with the Association’s projects like the nursery and the Greenway.
